$14 Million Project to Add 18,500 Square Feet of Surgical Space
Tampa, FL – Memorial Hospital of Tampa, an HCA West Florida facility, is pleased to announce a $14 million multi-phase hospital expansion and renovation. The project will include the creation of 47 private patient rooms and 18,500 square feet of new surgical space. Construction has begun and is expected to last approximately 22 months.
The project will allow the hospital to further reduce ER and surgical wait times and improve the patient and guest experience. The expansion includes additional surgical services support space and two new operating rooms with shell space for a third, bringing the total to nine operating rooms when the project is completed.
All patient rooms will be renovated to enhance healing and encourage family participation in the recovery process. Forty-seven rooms will be private and patients and guests will be supported through a new concierge service center, renovated lobby and waiting room amenities. The hospital will continue to provide free parking.
“The new lobby and patient room renovations further demonstrate our commitment to always meet or exceed our customer’s expectations,” said Ward Boston, CEO of Memorial Hospital of Tampa. “We consistently strive to keep our patients first and believe these upgrades to our facility will most certainly enhance the patient experience.”
“Since its acquisition of Memorial Hospital of Tampa and with input from our medical staff, HCA has provided us with extensive capital resources for facility improvements and technology upgrades, including the latest da Vinci robotic surgical system,” said Alejandra Kalik, MD, Chief of Staff.“ This support is vital as Memorial Hospital strives to provide state of the art technology for our physicians and thereby improve the treatment of the growing number of patients in our community.”
